Ones to watch

Fatherson are a four piece who have been making waves in the Scottish music scene following a string of supports with bands such as Frightened Rabbit, Feeder, Twin Atlantic and Idlewild.

The group have operated under the name Fatherson since December 2011 and have released two singles. “Hometown”, released through King Tuts Recordings showcases the band’s ability to write anthemic indie songs that will be running around your head for weeks to come. April of this year also saw the band release “First Born”, which allowed the them to work on their previous success, building a fanbase all over the country.

Thanks to their inclusion on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing playlist, Fatherson made their second appearance at T in the Park in 2012 on the BBC Introducing Stage. Their set was broadcast on BBC 2 and was the highlight of a summer full of festivals for the band.

Following this Fatherson embarked upon their largest headline tour to date, packing out venues around Scotland such as The Garage in Glasgow, Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh and The Ironworks in Inverness. The band rounded off their 2012 with a trip to the USA to take part in a music industry showcase and returned to play as main support to Admiral Fallow in Glasgow’s famous Barrowlands.

2014 has hit the ground running for the band, with work in full force for their debut album, Fatherson will be playing shows throughout the UK.

Pronto Mama are a six piece indy-fusion band based in Glasgow.

In 2012 they self-released their first E.P “Lickety Split”. The E.P was well received and led to the band landing support slots with Frightened Rabbit, Miaoux Miaoux and Fatherson. The band also managed to land a support slot with Jamie Cullum in late 2013, testament to their diverse musical content.  The E.P was surrounded by a lot of media hype, most notably from Radio 1 presenter Ally McCrae, who invited the band to play live in session on his BBC Introducing show describing them as “such a bloody enigma, a melodic, confident, harmonising, genre-pumping enigma.”

The band have received airplay from Radio 1, BBC Scotland and XFM during drivetime, as well as stations as far afield as Seattle’s KEXP. Their first EP was subsequently rereleased on Glasgow indie Label Instinctive Racoon, who have previously worked with other Scottish acts such Frightened Rabbit, Admiral Fallow, Withered Hand as well as many others. Instinctive Racoon provided the EP with a much needed larger distribution platform.

Pronto Mama’s third release was a five track EP entitled Niche Market in 2014, again via Instinctive Racoon. The release coincided with another live session this time with Vic Galloway on BBC Scotland. In promotion of the EP Pronto Mama supported We Were Promised Jetpacks on a mini Scottish Tour as well as playing a host of festivals including T in the Park, Wickerman and Belladrum.
